Session 1: Legal Policies, Governing Documents, and Bylaws

As a result of this session, you will learn how to create and maintain governing documents such as Bylaws and learn how to focus your nonprofit on keeping your charter in legal compliance.

Cost: $99 for micro credential, single course.  For virtual attendees, a Zoom link will be sent a week prior to the session to those who registered. Earned micro credential or certificates earned will only be awarded to those who registered.

About the Presenter:

Presenter: Sally Rutledge Ott, ACE, NFPC

About the Presenter: Sally has an Associate’s degree in Court and Convention Reporting and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing. Post graduate studies include Nonprofit Management, Organizational Management, Business Development, Business Law and Certifications in Economic Development, Event Planning and Strategic Planning. She is the President of Ottsie, LLC, a dual certified business in Construction Supply and Nonprofit Development.

After a successful court reporting career, she entered into the world of tourism, starting the Ottawa Visitors Bureau and working under Gov. Edgar’s Illinois Tourism Initiative. She sat on the Illinois Council of Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Board of Directors. From there, she ran a home-based business which included freelance court reporting and national corporate training. Sally has been working for chambers and nonprofit organizations throughout the nation for the past 40 years providing facilitation, board/staff development and change management. To-date, Sally has trained over 3,000 boards.

She holds US Copyrights on legal policies that include Antitrust Guidelines, Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Statements. Sally holds Accredited Chamber Executive credentials from the State of Illinois, Certified Nonprofit Executive status, US Chamber of Commerce certified credentials, and was inducted into the American Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement for Million Dollars in Sales in 2010 ranking 3rd in the Nation for Sales. Sally received the Leader of the Year Award in 2012 from Dynamic Professional Women’s Network and Woman of the Year Award for Illinois, and Mentor of the Year Award with Comprenos de Salud and the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce Pioneer Award in 2021. She has been affiliated with the Illinois Chamber of Commerce Executives through the Illinois State Chamber, the Illinois Council of Convention and Visitors Bureaus, the American Chamber of Commerce, Angel Bears of Hope, the American Red Cross, the March of Dimes and Easter Seals.
